To connect with high-quality student sources, the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Wuhan Institute of Technology conducted a graduate admissions presentation at Hubei Normal University on June 25, with the event delivered by Professor Xianbao Duan.
Rooted in the heart of Hubei and upholding the university motto of "Sincerity, Perseverance, Diligence, and Agility," Hubei Normal University has dedicated decades to teacher education. With its profound academic tradition, it has nurtured countless young students deeply committed to foundational education and the pursuit of knowledge, making it a fertile ground for talent cultivation rich in heritage in eastern Hubei. As a key provincial normal university, it also serves as an important reservoir of high-quality candidates for graduate programs at various universities. This presentation was primarily aimed at the 2023 cohort of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Hubei Normal University, who represent the first graduating class in their major to prepare for the graduate entrance examination. The lecture hall was filled to capacity, steeped in a love of learning. Steering clear of generic policy recitation, Professor Duan discarded the rigid script-reading approach and instead, grounded in the academic backgrounds and developmental aspirations of the Hubei Normal University students, he spoke in a personal and engaging manner, unfolding his presentation in clear, progressive layers.
During the lecture, Professor Duan, taking into account the disciplinary layout and talent cultivation features of Hubei Normal University, provided targeted explanations of graduate admissions directions and suitable professional fields, helping students clearly identify the points where their own studies could align with further education. He elaborated on the construction of disciplinary research platforms, the composition of the faculty team, and distinctive research directions, while also analyzing in detail past admissions data, core preparation priorities, the scholarship and support system, and diverse employment pathways. At the same time, drawing on the growth stories of students from normal universities, he spoke about the value of pursuing graduate studies, encouraging the young students to carry forward the original aspiration of "studying diligently and keenly" that they had cultivated at Hubei Normal University. He urged them to step beyond their established learning frameworks, broaden their horizons through scientific research, achieve self-fulfillment through deep dedication, and realize personal transformation and growth in their academic explorations.

Their earnest words and practical advice precisely dispelled the students' confusion about choosing a school and eased their exam anxiety. The sincere one-on-one exchanges created a warm and lively atmosphere, giving the students a more vivid and clearer picture of graduate life and their future development paths.
