(Reported by Husen Liu, Bin Wu, and Bei Xu) To steadily deepen the outcomes of Party history learning and education and to push forward the education on establishing and practicing a correct view of political performance, guiding faculty and student Party members to reflect on their original aspirations, clarify their mission, and rectify their conduct through the century-old revolutionary history of the Party—all while staying true to the essence of hard work and responsibility—on June 18, the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Optical Energy and Mathematical Sciences of Wuhan Institute of Technology jointly organized over 40 faculty and student Party members to visit the Wuhan Revolutionary Museum on Red Alley in Wuchang. They carried out a theme Party Day activity titled "Tracing the Red Alley, Recalling the Original Aspiration, and Forging Ahead on a New Journey." Through immersive on-site experiential learning, the activity enabled red education and performance view education to mutually empower one another and truly take root in the minds and hearts of the participants.

Stepping onto the Sacred Ground of Red Alley, Recalibrating the Course of Our Original Aspiration Amid a Century-Old Cultural Lineage

No. 13 Red Alley in Wuchang serves as a living cradle of Wuhan's modern revolution. Its array of red historical sites and revolutionary relics pieces together the Party's century-long journey of staying true to its original aspiration, seeking truth through pragmatism, and working diligently for the people—making it a tangible, on-site classroom for tempering Party spirit and fostering a correct view of political performance.

Despite the sweltering heat that day, Party members from both schools remained energetic and deeply engaged in study. The activity broke down Party-building silos across departments, bringing together the Party branch of the Department of Inorganic Nonmetallic Materials Engineering and the First Graduate Party Branch from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, along with the Party branch of the Institute of Optical Information Technology, the First Graduate Party Branch, and the Big Data Student Party Branch from the School of Optical Energy and Mathematical Sciences. This cross-departmental co-building model enabled Party members from different positions and academic levels to study and reflect together. As they revisited the arduous revolutionary past, they profoundly grasped the core of Communist Party members' view of political performance—"Success does not have to come from me alone, but success surely demands my contribution"—thereby cementing the ideological foundation for making solid, pragmatic work the bedrock of one's conduct.

Revisiting the Oath to Temper Party Spirit, Anchoring Solid Work and Performance with a Sincere Original Aspiration

Carrying Forward the Red Legacy, Staying True to the Heart of Duty. All faculty and student Party members gathered in the courtyard of the former site of the Wuchang Peasant Movement Training Institute for a red-themed recitation and a ceremony to renew their Party admission oath, tempering their Party spirit and rectifying their ideological conduct in a solemn atmosphere.

All the staff read Zedong Mao poem "Bodhisattva Barbarian · Yellow Crane Tower" in unison. The majestic and heroic words echoed between the red courtyards, showing the spiritual style of party members in the new era. Coinciding with the 105th anniversary of the founding of the party, all party members solemnly lined up, faced the party flag, raised their right fists, and their sonorous and powerful oaths hit people's hearts.

A written oath embodies the commitment to one's original aspiration, and more than that, it serves as a report on one's performance. This ceremony was not only a traditional tempering of Party spirit, but also a profound education in the correct view of political performance. It made all the faculty and student Party members once again clearly recognize that a Party member's performance lies in the practical responsibility of staying true to one's original aspiration, staying grounded, and fulfilling one's duties with dedication, thereby establishing the right value orientation and guarding against utilitarian or formalistic deviations in thinking.

Youth Voices Recall the Storied Past, Drawing Lessons on Rightful Responsibility from Revolutionary History

The Torch of a Century of Party History Is Passed On, and Youth Unite to Embrace Responsibility. After the oath-taking ceremony, the research visit was officially opened. Juntao Wang and Tangpei Wang, graduate students and undergraduate party volunteers of the School of Materials, became young docents and told the story of the red revolution from a youthful perspective, leading everyone to look back immersively on the century-old struggle and understand the original intention and achievements of the Communist Party.

Walking through the former site of the Agricultural Seminar, we witnessed the perseverance of the revolutionary ancestors who took root at the grassroots level, worked silently, and sowed revolutionary seeds, and understood the original achievements of "rooted in the front line, pragmatic for the people"; stopped at the former residence of Comrade Zedong Mao, and in each object and paragraph of the past, they comprehended the noble feelings of the ancestors who sought the truth of saving the country, regardless of personal gains and losses, and wholeheartedly for the country and the people; walked into the theme exhibition hall of the five major meeting sites and discipline construction of the Communist Party of China, and deeply appreciated the excellent style of self-innovation, strict discipline, Seek Truth and Be Pragmatic of the Communist Party of China for a hundred years, and understood that the correct view of political achievements is essentially adhering to the right path, strictly abiding by the rules, and working hard for a long for merit.

During the visit, the faculty and student Party members frequently paused in reflection and exchanged their thoughts. Immersed in the vivid, real-life history of the Party, they shed impetuous mindsets and came to a profound realization: whether a teacher is dedicated to educating students and pursuing scientific research, or a student is diligently studying and growing through practice, one must be grounded in one's own role, stay down-to-earth, and avoid hollow achievements and empty fame.

After the on-site experiential learning, a free-flowing discussion was held on the spot. Faculty and students, reflecting on their respective roles, academic growth, and responsibilities as Party members, shared their thoughts and insights on "establishing and practicing a correct view of political performance." Through this exchange of ideas, they forged a consensus on solid, pragmatic work.

Red Alley may be short in length, yet it measures the spiritual heights of a political party that grew from weakness to strength. The old sites stand silent, but they still reverberate with a century of undying historical echoes. This walking theme Party Day activity was not merely an affectionate retracing of the red roots, but a profound purification of the political soul. Amid the grey bricks and dark tiles, what the faculty and students from the two schools felt was not only the enduring warmth of history, but the very essence of the Communist Party members' view of political performance: a commitment to truth and pragmatism, and a spirit of hard, dedicated work.

They came to a profound realization that the best "political performance" is not found on paper, but lies in the path beneath one's feet; the truest "original aspiration" is not just spoken, but is lived out daily in teaching, nurturing students, and serving the nation through scientific research. Everyone unanimously expressed their determination to bring this weighty "answer sheet" from Red Alley back to their labs and classrooms, to turn their loyalty to the Party into concrete actions aimed at overcoming bottleneck technological challenges, and to inscribe their devotion to the people on the journey of serving the country's strategic needs. With a spirit of selflessness, they will write a record of meaningful accomplishment, and on the track of the new era, run the best race for the materials science and optoelectronics community of Wuhan Institute of Technology.
