(Reported by Liuyong Hu) On June 25, 2026, in an effort to cultivate high-quality student sources outside the province and expand the recruitment channels for the 2027 graduate admissions, the Graduate School of Wuhan Institute of Technology took the lead in coordinating and assembling a cross-disciplinary outreach team comprising vice deans and doctoral supervisors from various schools, and traveled to Henan to conduct targeted, in-person admissions promotion. This marked the first time that the Graduate School had integrated core faculty resources from multiple disciplines across the university to form a large-scale outreach team. Moving away from formulaic and templated promotion routines, the team prepared meticulously and engaged in immersive communication to understand the pain points students face when choosing a graduate program, building a bridge for undergraduates with scientific aspirations to exchange ideas, broaden their knowledge, and see their path ahead clearly. Professor Liuyong Hu from our School of Materials Science and Engineering participated in the entire trip as a representative of the school. The outreach team successively visited Henan Finance University and Xinxiang University, where two well-stratified and precisely targeted admissions presentations were smoothly carried out.
For the presentation at Xinxiang University, the university had planned ahead and tailored a special university-local engagement plan. On the afternoon of June 26, six concurrent discipline-specific sessions were held on campus, targeting sophomore and junior students at Xinxiang University who were planning to pursue graduate studies. This approach ensured precise discipline matching and stratified cultivation for different student groups. Each session was focused and tailored to its audience. Professor Liuyong Hu elaborated on the core concerns of the prospective students, including the disciplinary layout of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the structure of its supervisory team, its high-end research platforms, university-enterprise joint training models, and the scholarship and financial aid system. Throughout the session, he shared in-depth stories based on the School's real educational achievements and alumni career growth cases. The content was grounded in the students' actual needs and offered both highly relevant professional insights and practical guidance.
At Henan Finance University, Professor Hu systematically outlined our university's comprehensive graduate education and training system and explained the core admissions policies point by point. The exchange was conducted in a warm and congenial atmosphere as he discussed the growth paths available during graduate studies with the attending students. He patiently answered their questions on school selection, exam preparation, and academic planning, using sincere communication to build a bridge of mutual understanding and shared progress between the youth of the two institutions.
Both presentations moved away from the traditional one-way lecture format. Professor Hu had thoughtfully prepared small cultural and creative gifts for the interactive session. With the welcoming and clever idea of "ask bravely, gain new knowledge first," he dispelled the students' hesitation to speak up and encouraged them to openly share their confusions and dilemmas about choosing a school and preparing for exams. After the policy briefing, students eagerly raised their hands to ask questions. Hot topics such as the detailed rules for the re-examination, on-campus research platform resources, and career development paths for graduate students were raised one after another. The Q&A interaction lasted nearly half an hour. Many students took the initiative to register their application intentions on the spot, hoping to continue receiving the latest admissions information. The hall was filled with a strong passion for learning, a true reflection of the high recognition and deep aspiration that students from the Central Plains region hold for our university's graduate education platform.
Between the sessions, the outreach team held in-depth discussions with the leaders responsible for graduate affairs at the two host institutions. Both sides exchanged ideas and reached a consensus on long-term matters, including regular inter-university talent transfer, a sustainable mechanism for joint student source development, and cross-institutional disciplinary exchanges. The Vice President of Xinxiang University spoke highly of our university's thorough and meticulous preparations, fully affirming that the presentations combined professional depth with humanistic warmth.
This recruitment trip to Henan, from the early stage of tailoring unique plans for each university and detailing discipline-specific presentation programs, to creating a relaxed and equal communication atmosphere on site while patiently addressing every minor exam preparation query, and then to the continuous nurturing of inter-university educational cooperation ties after the presentations, saw every thoughtful refinement aimed at stripping away the superficial formality of admissions promotion. With sincerity as their bedrock and detailed, professional admissions explanations as their anchor, the outreach team dispelled the students' confusion and anxiety on the path to choosing a school, enabling every undergraduate with academic aspirations to clearly see a graduate path that is attainable, worth delving into, and full of growth.
The road ahead is long and arduous, but action will lead to the destination; with persistent effort, a bright future is in sight. Moving forward, the School will continue to cultivate the fertile ground of high-quality student sources outside the province, continuously opening up smooth channels for further education consultation and growth alignment for young people aspiring to advanced studies. We will welcome students from all corners, join hands with local communities to work in the same direction, empower disciplinary development with the fresh knowledge of youth, and jointly nurture high-level professionals capable of shouldering the great responsibilities of our times.
