(Reported by Yulun Zhou, Tongpan Wu and Reziwanguli) To solidly advance the 2026 summer "Sanxiaxiang" (Going to the Countryside, Going to the Community, Going to the Grassroots) social practice initiative, reinforce and tighten safety responsibilities, ensure activities are carried out in a standardized and orderly manner, and at the same time mobilize young students to actively participate in the 3rd Campus Online Culture Festival to rally the power of youth communication, the School of Materials Science and Engineering convened its Summer "Sanxiaxiang" Social Practice Safety Training and Online Culture Festival Mobilization Conference on June 24. The meeting was attended by Ke Ma, Deputy Secretary of the School's Party Committee, Reziwanguli, Secretary of the School's Youth League Committee, Bin Wu, undergraduate counselor for the Class of 2025, Ziyue Zhang, graduate counselor, the head of the School's Publicity Department, and members of the practice teams from all grade levels.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ke Ma, Deputy Secretary of the School's Party Committee, delivered a mobilization speech. He noted that the summer "Sanxiaxiang" social practice program serves as a vital platform for young people to ground themselves in communities, integrate knowledge with action, and grow into capable talents. He encouraged all the participating students to leverage their professional strengths, immerse themselves in grassroots settings, and serve the people with dedication, so as to strengthen their ideals and convictions, hone their overall skills, and deepen their sense of patriotism and social responsibility through this experience. At the same time, he stressed that safety is the lifeline of the practice work, and urged every team member to remain constantly vigilant about safety, strengthen their awareness of precautions, strictly adhere to discipline and regulations, and build a solid safety barrier for the practice activities. At the meeting, he set forth three requirements for all team members: to build a firm foundation of faith, keep the big picture of the nation and its people in mind, and demonstrate the responsibility of youth; to persist in integrating knowledge and action, delve deep into grassroots practice, and refine practical skills; and to strictly uphold the safety bottom line, regulate their words and conduct, and scrupulously abide by all rules and regulations.

To ensure the orderly progress of the summer "Sanxiaxiang" social practice, Reziwanguli, Secretary of the School's Youth League Committee, conducted a specialized safety training session for the practice. Taking into account that summer practice largely takes place outdoors and requires deep immersion in grassroots communities, she explained key safety points one by one, covering transportation, accommodation, personal and property protection, and emergency response. She further clarified the disciplinary guidelines for the practice period and refined the safety management requirements, thus building a solid safety line of defense for this year's summer social practice.

The meeting also featured a session for sharing outstanding practical experience, aimed at leveraging the role of exemplary models. Wei Chen, recognized as an "Advanced Individual" in the 2025 social practice program, drew on her own grassroots experience to share practical insights and reflections on core tasks such as teamwork, field research, and outcome summarization, providing invaluable reference for the new cohort of practice team members to carry out grassroots work effectively. Subsequently, Yicen Liu, a representative of the 2026 practice team members, delivered a statement of commitment. On behalf of all the students, she pledged that they would take the initiative to immerse themselves in grassroots communities, serve society with dedication, enhance their abilities and sharpen their skills through the tempering of practice, and fulfill the mission of youth through solid, down-to-earth work.

In the mobilization session for the Online Culture Festival, Ziyi Su from the School's Publicity Department gave a detailed explanation of the activity implementation plan, offering a comprehensive introduction covering the event content, work formats, participation channels, and entry requirements. She encouraged all students in the school to take the "Sanxiaxiang" practice as an opportunity, leverage their professional strengths and innovative thinking, capture the glimmers of practice and tell their youth stories from a youthful perspective, actively create high-quality online cultural works, spread positive energy on campus, and help foster a clean and uplifting online cultural atmosphere.

Refining the Original Aspiration Through Practice, Bearing the Mission with Youthful Vigor. This conference not only consolidated the safety foundation for the summer social practice and clarified its objectives and requirements, but also rallied the strength of young people for the development of the campus online culture. Looking ahead, the School will continue to rely on the platforms of practice-based education and culture-based education, guiding the young talents in materials science to build on safety, prioritize solid work, and take innovation as their wings. They will delve into grassroots practice, amplify the voice of youth, fulfill the responsibilities of the young through the unity of knowledge and action, and let their youthful brilliance shine as they chase their dreams forward.
